Mancat Monday Meme

The good Senator over at Whiskers and Purrs tagged me for a meme last week. Here are the rules:
  1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
  2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden anme or your mother's maiden name.)
  3. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person (or blogger of another species) for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave a comment telling them they've been tagged.)
Well . . . the Senator had a problem choosing a name to do because he has so many. I, on the other paw, have just one name, plus my title. Since I go by "Tybalt" because I'm such a casual royal, I have decided to use my title "Prince" for this one.
Perfect
Royal
Intelligent
Nimble
Cuddly
Elegant
I tag any kitty who wants to play!

Friday Movie Review - Bell, Book and Candle

This week I am doing a special movie review for one of our favorite Aussie Top Cats . . . Pyewacket! The first time mommy and I ever heard the name "Pyewacket" was in the movie "Bell, Book, and Candle" . . . and it was the name of a magical meezer! This one is for you, Pye!

Directed By: Richard Quine
Written By: John Van Druten (play)
Daniel Taradash (screenplay)

Gillian Holroyd (Kim Novak) is an anthropologist who sells tribal masks and native artwork in her unique shop in New York. Gillian also happens to be a witch, and lives behind her shop with her familiar, a siamese named Pyewacket, and downstairs from her fellow witch and aunt Queenie (Elsa Lanchester) and the ordinary and non-magical Shep Henderson (Jimmy Stewart). Gillian finds herself bored with her life, and intrigued by her neighbor Shep. When she learns that Shep is engaged to a former classmate who was less than nice in their school days, Gillian feels no compunction about trying to steal Shep away for her own amusement. However, when he seems a little reluctant to fall for her charms, Gillian resorts to her magic to sway him. What Gillian doesn't expect is that she will genuinely begin to care for Shep . . . or that she will come to regret ensorcelling him. Matters are complicated when her brother Nicky (Jack Lemmon), a warlock, begins to share their secrets with a writer (Ernie Kovacs) whose book Shep plans to publish. Gillian must decide if she should be the one to share her secret with Shep . . . and risk losing him forever.

Shep and Pyewacket

"Bell, Book and Candle" combines romance, comedy, and drama into a wonderfully amusing (and slightly macabre) tale. Kim Novak is stunningly beautiful and mysterious as Gillian, and Jimmy Stewart does his usual incredibly lovable job as the lead male, Shep. The meezer Pywacket is flawless as the powerful familiar, hyponotizing the audience with his incredible blue eyes and deep, rumbling purr.

Gillian and Pyewacket

I give this wonderful movie two paws up and a hypnotic purr!

Thursday Thirteen - Fishie

Hi Kitties! This Thursday's Thirteen all belongs to me, Ivy! I am going to tell you more about fishie.

Thirteen Things About Fishie
  1. Mommy got him from Uncle Sean's Swim Team Awards Banquet. He was a centerpiece in a pretty glass bowl. Mommy felt bad for him, even before it turned out he was a door prize and no one else at the table wanted him!

  2. Fishie was with us for less than 24 hours before he swam over the Rainbow Bridge. Mommy explained to us that he was probably stressed out from his role as centerpiece, but that he had a good short life while he was with us.

  3. Mommy gave him a respectful "burial at sea." I don't see how she managed that, since we don't live anywhere near the ocean.

  4. Almost Dad was going to name him something cool and Japanese, but Fishie swam over the bridge before he could think of anything that fit.

  5. Fishie was a pretty bright orange with black spots. You could say he was a tortie!

  6. All of us kitties wanted to meet him. Badly.

  7. Tybalt and Holly still cry and scratch at the bathroom door to see him, even though mommy explained to them that Fishie is no longer with us. I don't seem to care as much, which surprises everyone.

  8. Mommy told Tybalt that if he is very good, she might get him another fishie.

  9. Fishie had to live in the bathroom locked away from us because we were figuring out how to get to him to "play" with him.

  10. Tybalt thought Fishie was his birthday present.

  11. Fishie would have been the first pet that Almost Dad and Mommy adopted together. (That's why he was going to be the one to name him.)

  12. Fishie was a great swimmer. He was a lot of fun for us kitties to watch.

  13. Fishie seemed like he would have been a great friend. I hope we do get another fishie!

Tortie Tuesday - Curious Toesies

Hello, everykitty! It is Holly again, reporting for Tortie Tuesday! I get another turn because mommy actually got some good pictures of me lately, and she was excited about that. Usually I turn away from the camera or give her the evil eye, so the only tortie she really gets is Ivy.

As you can see in the picture below, Tybalt wasn't the only kitty to rush into mommy's bathroom to see what was going on! Here I am doing my best curious kitty stretch to peek on top of the counter to get a better look.

Mommy really loves this picture because it shows my extra toesies off well! Here is a close-up.

So far no kitty has guessed correctly, which isn't a surprise because it is something that you wouldn't expect in a bathroom. Tomorrow all will be revealed!

***EMERGENCY PURRAYERS NEEDED***

Tybalt's girlfriend Samantha is missing! Please purr very hard that she is found safe and sound. Please come home, Samantha!

Mancat Monday - Skritches

Here I am getting skritches from my mommy, even though I am where I am not supposed to be.
In this picture, I am sitting on top of mommy's bathroom counter. I am not allowed in mommy's bathroom (and neither are the twins) because we do very naughty things in there, like emptying out the trash and stealing things out of the cabinet and clawing up the shower curtain.
This time, I ran and scooted inside very fast before mommy could shut the door. There was something new and exciting inside that I wanted very badly. Can anyone guess what it was? The answer will be given in this week's Wordless Wednesday.
(As you can see from this picture, mommy finds me irresistable even when I'm being naughty.)
***Mommy promised me that I would get to catch up with all of my friends today. I'm so glad! I've missed you all. I hope I haven't missed any new and exciting events!***

Friday Movie Review - Harvey

In honor of both Saint Patrick's Day and Easter being within the same week this year (which is a super rare occurence) I am reviewing a movie that can encompass both holidays: Harvey!

Harvey (1950)

Directed By: Henry Koster

Written By: Mary Chase

In this film Jimmy Stewart plays Elwood P. Dowd, a sweet and friendly man who occasionally likes to enjoy some mother's milk, and has a best friend who happens to be an invisible 6 foot tall rabbit named Harvey. (Elwood later explains that Harvey is a Pooka, a mischevious Irish spirit! Diamond introduced them to us not long ago.) In this quote, Elwood tells how he met Harvey:

"I'd just put Ed Hickey into a taxi. Ed had been mixing his rye with his gin, and I just felt that he needed conveying. Well, anyway, I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name. And naturally I went over to chat with him. And he said to me... he said, "Ed Hickey was a little spiffed this evening, or could I be mistaken?" Well, of course, he was not mistaken. I think the world and all of Ed, but he was spiffed. Well, we talked like that for awhile and then I said to him, I said, "You have the advantage on me. You know my name and I don't know yours." And, and right back at me he said, "What name do you like?" Well, I didn't even have to think twice about that. Harvey's always been my favorite name. So I said to him, I said, "Harvey." And, uh, this is the interesting thing about the whole thing: He said, "What a coincidence. My name happens to be Harvey."

Elwood's sister, Veta, becomes tired of living with Harvey, as both her and her
daughter fear becoming socially ostracized due to Elwood's strange friendship.
Everyone considers Elwood a drunkard or insane, and Veta is embarrassed by this.
In an effort to rid herself of Harvey forever, Veta attempts to get Elwood
committed to a mental institution.

However, things don't go as smoothly as Veta hopes, and a comedy of errors ensues. Also, it becomes more and more apparent that Harvey does perhaps exist!

This movie is the film adaptiation of Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize winning play - an award well-deserved. It is funny, touching, and whimsical! In honor of our bun friends, I give this film two binkies and a whisker twitch!

Thursday Thirteen - Tortoiseshell

Hello Kitties! Holly here. Since we were cheated out of Tortie Tuesday this week, Tybalt let me take over the Thursday Thirteen. I noticed that there was a fun looking meme going around using middle names. I wanted to do something like that too, and then I had a brilliant moment of inspiration! Today is Thursday Thirteen, and the word "tortoiseshell" has 13 letters in it! So, here is my Thursday Thirteen, all about me (and my sister Ivy), using the word "tortoiseshell." It is good to be a tortie!

Terriffic Tuesday!

Yesterday was great! We had the BEST Saint Patrick's Day/Birthday Party over at the M-Cats Club. I thought that would be the highlight of my day, but then Mommy came home and brought me this! A package from my Tuxie Princess Samantha!

There were two cards inside . . . one for Saint Patrick's Day that was addressed to all of us (even Mommy and Almost Dad!) and another one JUST FOR ME! And you will NEVER guess what was inside it!

SAMANTHA FURS!!!!!!
And the package also had tons of goodies! There was stinky goodness (YUM!), and jingly balls, and swirly balls, catnip, and feathery toys . . . oh, it was kitty heaven! I love my presents, Samantha!
I was so happy I even let my sisters share my toys without whapping at them!
(I labeled the twins so you could tell who was who. =^_^=)

Oh, I had the BESTEST Birthday EVER! Thanks everyone!

Nosekisses and Purrs to my wonderful and thoughtful Sammie-Pie.

Mancat Monday PARTY!

***Weather Update***
For those of you who were nice enough to worry about me and ask, yes, we weathered (ha ha!) out the horrible storms over the weekend well. On Saturday afternoon, mommy made all of us furry babies and Almost Dad get down in the basement/garage because there was a tornado coming our way. Luckily it never touched down in our area, but Holly and I were still scared and cried and cried. Even a grown up 2 year old mancat can be scared sometimes. Ivy and the doggies just played in the basement and explored. They weren't bothered a bit. Mommy saw how scared Holly and I were and put us in the car to sit with her and Almost Dad, and we calmed down and even took a little nap. Thanks for checking on us, everykitty! (That was some birthday I had. Thanks, Mother Nature!)

Today is the big day, Kitties! Today it is PARTY TIME!!!!!
We have Green Niptinis:

And HAM!

And lots of Temptations!

And Zoolatry made me this gorgeous picture just for my birthday! I am so excited!

AND Mazie Grace of Whiskers and Purrs gave me this wonderful award! Thanks, Mazie Grace! You are one cool kitty.

Alright, everykitty . . . . CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE PARTY!

Friday Movie Review - Darby O'Gill and the Little People

In honor of Saint Patrick's Day, I am reviewing another Disney classic: "Darby O'Gill and the Little People."

Directed By: Robert Stevenson
Written By:Lawrence Edward Watkin (screenplay)
H.T. Kavanagh ("Darby O'Gill short stories)

Mommy says that here is the main reason ladybeans should watch this movie: a young Sean Connery . . . and he sings!

This film follows the adventures of Darby O'Gill, the village drunken storyteller, and his relationship with the Little People, notably King Brian . . . the king of the Little People. Most of the villagers are entertained by Darby's stories, but none really believe him . . . including his daughter Katie and his employer. When a young and handsome Michael McBride first arrives, Darby assumes he has been hired to help him in his caretaker duties on the lord's estate. Soon, however, it is revealed that Michael has instead been hired as Darby's replacement! Darby hits upon a scheme to trick King Brian out of his gold so that he can support himself and his daughter, but will he be successful? Are the Little People truly real, or are they merely figments of Darby's drunken imagination, as everyone else believes?

This film is filled with humor, colorful Irish scenery, and romance. The relationship between King Brian and Darby is one of friendly rivalry, with each doing their best to outsmart the other. King Brian attempts to trap Darby forever in his realm only to be outwitted by Darby who rouses him and his subjects to The Hunt with his inspired fiddle playing. Later Darby attempts to capture King Brian by challenging him to a drinking game, planning to keep him occupied until cock's crow, when the king will lose his powers. This is a wonderful story, and perfect for Saint Patrick's Day!
I give "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" two pints of green beer and a shake from my magical shillelagh!

Thursday Thirteen - Party Like It's My Birthday!

My birthday is this Saturday! I will turn TWO years old! Even more exciting than that, I will be having my Birthday Party next Monday, March 17th, at the M-Cats Club! (Thank you, Mr. Tigger!) We are combining my birthday with the Saint Patrick's Day festivities!
Thirteen Reasons Why You Should Come To Our Party
  1. I'm a prince, and I command it.
  2. The green niptinis!
  3. It's at the M-Cats Club, and that is the coolest place ever to hang out (tied with the new Black Cat Pub!)
  4. Since it is two parties in one, we will be partying twice as hard!
  5. We have teleporters so that you won't have to miss Captain Jack's birthday cruise or the party at the Black Cat Pub! You can party at all three!
  6. Yummy treats . . . . including temptations and HAM!
  7. Dancing! (Although I don't know who will be able to compete with Skeezix and his Wild Irish Roses.)
  8. Wild games of Thundering Herd of Elephants!
  9. Did I mention the green niptinis?
  10. Free paw massages and tummy rubs for all! (A complimentary service of my mommy. ;) )
  11. It is a great excuse to hang out with your friends and just relax.
  12. Everyone is invited . . . that includes all of our ladycats!
  13. Because I will only turn 2 once.

Samantha, will you be my special birthday date?

Tortie Tuesday - Helping

We Terrible Tortie Twins thought we would report to the Catblogosphere about the importance of helping your siblings! Here is an excellent example: what to do when they get mail (and you don't!)

First inspect the package carefully. Sniffing it is a good idea.

Next, you may want to feel it with your paws, to make sure it contains nothing suspicious. (Be aware that your sibling may mistake this for claiming their mail as your own.)

If your sibling is younger, they may not be able to read as well as you, so helping them with any cards or messages that may be included in the package is a must.

A quality control check is usually necessary for any items that were included in the package. Unfortunately, Tybalt claimed the catnip fishie right away and whapped at us when we tried to perform our check on it. (Sammy's lessons are really paying off!)

Supervising your sibling while they open and enjoy their package is always necessary. Never get lazy and just walk away! Make sure that you get plenty of time to sniff, paw, and play with . . . er . . . we mean quality check any items they may receive.

Happy Tortie Tuesday, everykitty!

Mancat Monday Mail

I was so surprised! Saturday afternoon my mommy told me I had mail! It was from two of my favorite ladycats, Queen Snickers and Empress. I got a prize for knowing the bonus question on their 100th post contest!

As you can see, I had a lot of help opening my package.

Look! I got a beautiful card and a catnip fishie! (That makes sense because my answer to the bonus question was that Queen Snickers has a pet fishie!)

Oh, Snickers and Empress, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my catnip fishie and my card! Thank you both so much!

Friday Movie Review - The Cat From Outer Space

Today in honor of Ramses and Isis and their movie star lineage, I would like to review the movie their ancestor starred in: Walt Disney's "The Cat From Outer Space."

Director: Norman Tokar

Written By : Ted Key

This movie is a riveting sci-fi adventure/comedy . . . and stars a cat! In "The Cat From Outer Space," a UFO is left stranded on Earth, and is taken by the U.S. government. The pilot, a handsome mancat, is left to seek help wherever he can find it. Luckily, he is wearing a special collar that allows him to communicate with humans. The alien mancat, later known as "Jake," soon gets aid from Dr. Frank Wilson (Ken Berry), and his love interest Dr. Liz Bartlett (Sandy Duncan). However, Jake needs Org 12, known on our planet as gold, to get his ship up and running again. And not only that, he needs to be able to sneak into it right under the U.S. military's very nose! Will Jake ever be able to fly his ship home again?

This movie is a classic Disney comedy; funny, family-oriented, and heart-warming. Jake is presented as a super-intelligent and adventurous kitty. My favorite part is when Jake explains to Frank that the reason his kind have taken the form of a cat is that it is the best one. (Which we, of course, already know to be true.) Thankfully, this movie is now available on DVD.

I got so worked up about this movie that I decided to break out my "Tybalt the Space Kitty" persona!

Tybalt the Space Kitty gives "The Cat From Outer Space" two antennae wiggles and a whisker twitch!
